Since RME drivers are written in-house and not outsourced to third party. Their operating software, presumably due to compatibility issues with. How do i remove everything to do with my RME FF400 from my computer i.e. Drivers, total mix etc. If i just bin the apps when i reinstall everything.
Hi!I just got a new MacBook Pro Retina with OS X 10.8.4. (2.3 GHz i7, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3) mainly to work with Logic Pro X (10.0.2).This replaces a 2008 MacBook Pro with OS 10.5.2 with Logic Studio 8.Been using the Fireface 400 since 2008 with no major issues until the recent Mac/Logic upgrade. I've just updated the driver and firmware for the FF400 to the latest versions (and set the Mac's O/I to FF 400) and now when I'm in Logic the Mac's volume control doesn't work, i.e.
It's permanently set to full, and the Fireface's headphone volume bizarrely pans right when I turn it up full and pans left when I turn it down, balancing at around mark 06. None of this was an issue prior to the recent updates. This means I have no way of adjusting overall listening volume (short of pulling the master fader down in Logic!), which is a major pain in the studio but unworkable live.!Any suggestions much appreciated - thanks! Hi Jordi,Thanks for your swift response.I had set the Fireface as input and output device in Logic and on the Mac, but even if I set I/O back to to 'built-in' on the Mac this does not make a difference to the fact that the Mac's volume control is always at full when Logic's active, even if I keep pressing F11 (lower volume) or F10 (mute). I see the Mac's volume bars move down/disappear but nothing happens volume wise. The Fireface is connected to the Mac's Thunderbolt port via a Firewire 400/800 adapter and the Apple Thunderbolt/Firewire 800 adapter (on my old Mac it went straight into the Firewire 400 port.).Re. The other issue of the Fireface's headphone volume control panning I've had a reply back from RME to suggest I press the knob twice to set it back to stereo, but this has made no difference - the volume changes unevenly L to R, is balanced at max volume, but can't be dialled down to completely silent (hangs in the left ear - which is not just me getting old.)Interesting that you've got the same Logic/FF400 set-up but no such issues.
(I've not had these issues with my previous Logic 8/Fireface 400 combination).Any more thoughts? Thanks! I suspect the problem is with the FF400 and/or its software.outpost wrote. Thanks for your replies Jordi and Eric.I had a look at the Mac's Audio MIDI setup page in the meantime. As it turned out only one of the headphone outs was responding when I turned the volume knob, sometimes the left, sometimes the right channel (hence the panning effect). Early on, when the issue first occurred, I had tried resetting the Fireface's headphone out to stereo by keeping it pushed in but nothing changed. I tried this again several times now and it's finally changed back to stereo headphone volume control - don't know why it didn't earlier (nor why this was never an issue on my previous Mac/Logic 8/FF400 setup), but at least it's finally working now!In terms of the Mac's F10-12 volume control, the AMS showed it was only affecting main analogue outs 1+2 but nothing else. I didn't have access to speakers the last few days and was just monitoring via the Fireface on headphones, which were - and still are - unaffected by the Mac's volume control (I could change levels on ALL outs with the Mac's volume control on my old MacBook Pro/Logic 8/FF400 setup). There may well be a simple way to assign the Mac's volume control to ALL Fireface outs? Thanks again for your quick responses!

(Mind you, that will also reroute the sound output from OS X to output 7-8. Be sure to check what you have set-up in matrix, usually 1-2 is copied in FF DSP to 7-8 by default if I recall).I have them permanently set for 7-8 because I use a monitor controller for out1-2. Which I suggest you to use anyway, they're cheap.
Hello,The new mac mini don't have any firewire ports, so i decided to create a Hackintosh. It works good except with the RME Fireface 400, which is not recognized. I operate with Yosemite and Windows 7 / 64bitsI can't instal the sound cart, on OSX or Windows is the same. My firewire card seems to function because when i connect the RME inside, the card turn on! So I suppose if I would like use the firewire port to connect an external hard drive, it will be ok (?)When I try to instal the drivers, it's weird. The drivers are installed but nothing appears, no card in the devices. When I try update the interface to the last firmware 'Mac OS X Intel Flash Update Tool for Fireface 400 and Fireface 800.
Update to firmware revision 1.71 and 2.77.' , this message comes: 'no fireface driver or device installed'The same when i put the RME application to my old macbook (where the RME is working) on a USB key, to put the application on my hackintosh, it's impossible to open itTo finish i have to say that my firewire card is a VIA. I don't know if it's because I don't have a Texas Instrument.
But it's not a 'sound quality problem', it's more a 'recognition problem'PS: my motherboard is: Gigabyte GA-Z97-D3H, and I didn't find any Firewire option in the BIOSAnd please, excuse my englishThanks,Alex.
